Make Your Italian Sports Car Dreams Come True

Have you ever dreamed of owning a Ferrari without spending Ferrari money? Well, now is your chance to do exactly that. What I have found for you is something pretty special. Today, I bring to you a 2012 Maserati GranTurismo MC being auctioned off on everyone’s favorite car auction site: Bring A Trailer.

This gorgeous MC is finished in Rosso Trionfale with a black Poltrona Frau leather interior with red stitching. The current highest bid is $16,000 and expires in 5 days. If you want this discounted Ferrari sibling you need to get on line ASAP.

The GranTurismo (shortened to GT) is one of our favorite Italian sports cars here at Road’s Edge. In fact, having known someone who owned one and driven one myself while working for a Maserati dealership, the GT is easily one of the best grand tourers on the market. Sadly, the GT was discontinued this year which makes this auction all the more exciting. Taking financial impacts like depreciation and mechanicals out of the picture, the GT is great.

The GT was co-developed with Ferrari and actually shares some major Ferrari DNA. For example, the engine, known as the F136, was co-developed by Ferrari and Maserati and therefore deserves every ounce of praise we can muster. The 4.7 liter F136Y V8, which is used in all iterations of the GT, produced about 444 HP and 376 lb ft of torque, making this one monster of an engine. On top of all of this, the GT makes one hell of an incredible sound. It is quite literally soul shaking. To be honest, I think it’s one of the top ten best sounding motors ever, bar none. But don’t take it from me, according to a study done around 2008, 100% of tested women (Study Says the Sound of a Maserati Engine Turns Women On)  showed increased levels of testosterone after listening to the sound of a Maserati V8. So, not only will this car get you from point A to point B fast, but you’ll also increase your sex appeal by an easy 100%.

Anyways, back to the car for sale. This spec is of the MC Sport Line family, not the MC Stradale family. What does any of that mean you ask? Well, the MC sport line is a regular GT with some neat upgrades. Changes made to the car include a front and rear carbon fiber spoiler, carbon fiber mirror housings and door handles, gorgeous 20 inch wheels, carbon fiber interior, and much more. This differs from the Stradale in a few different ways. For starters, the Stradale has that massive hood scoop, diamond-like anti-friction coating, and is 110 kilograms lighter all around. However, the biggest difference can definitely be spotted in the gearbox. The Stradale features the MC Race Shift 6-speed robotized manual gearbox, which shares electronics and hardware from the Ferrari 599 GTO. So to summarize, the Stradale is just the cooler, flashier, younger brother, but the Sport Line is the cool, reserved, and more successful one.

The car listed on Bring a Trailer has a clean CarFax report, four previous owners, and is listed with 24,000 mile, which is pretty steep for a Maserati. However, the current highest bid (as of December 6, 2020) is only $16,000 which is a very good deal. Other specs with similar miles and stories are fetching around $40,000. So, what does this mean? Nothing more except that now is your chance to pick up a heavily discounted Ferrari sibling. Seriously, this car is an absolute beast. I have yet to find many cars that make even close to the same noise as this and are just as fun to drive. We were saddened to hear that the GT is being discontinued this year, but hopefully now the car will live a happy life in our memories.

The crazy part is that hardly anything falls in the same realm as the Maserati Gran Turismo. They are as unique as they are timeless. The link to this auction will be posted right below. I seriously recommend checking it out. It’s worth it.
